We are delighted to invite prospective students and their families to join us at our Open Evening on Tuesday 7 November 2023 from 6pm until 8pm, with guided tours of the school.

Staff and students look forward to welcoming you and giving a flavour of School life and answering any questions you may have.

Head of School Welcome

I am proud to be the Head of Harington School. We are an academic sixth form with a proven track record of delivering strong results at A Level. Last year 47% of grades awarded were A*/A and over 90% A*-C. Yet there is far more to Harington School than results. Our students benefit from a high-quality pastoral system, a wide range of extracurricular and super-curricular opportunities and informed tailored careers advice. As a result, they go onto the very best universities and degree level apprenticeships.

At Harington we expect a lot from our learners. Our students are mature, hardworking and, despite their many successes, unbelievably modest. They support one another and take advantage of everything the School has to offer.

In addition to A level studies, all students take part in our Academic Enrichment programme, which gives exposure to a wide range of careers including design, engineering, law, psychology, teaching and coaching, as well as valuable volunteering and work experience opportunities. Students can also elect to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, musical scholarship programme or opportunities in leadership and sport.

Each year around 80% of students decide to go to university, with over 40% securing places at Russell Group universities and a significant number going on to study at Oxbridge or courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science. Other students have gone on to secure high-level apprenticeships and rewarding careers. Our first-class UCAS and careers programme, supported through our link with Oakham School, will ensure our students are given high-quality guidance.

Above all, we will help our students grow in confidence and fulfil their true potential. In becoming a student at Harington you will be joining a caring environment, one in which all your achievements will be recognised and celebrated.

I look forward to meeting you.

Oliver Teasel, Head of School

Working together for success

Harington School is a first rate learning environment, judged as outstanding in all categories by Ofsted (January 2017). We are privileged to be large enough to offer a wide range of curriculum and enrichment activities but small enough to maintain a family ethos where all students are known personally.

Alongside our academic subjects, students benefit greatly from accessing our academic enrichment programme, bespoke supports for competitive universities, and a full activity programme.
